The Wing Dressage Group
Constitution
Amended November 2009

- Title
- Objectives
- To encourage riding and in particular Dressage as a sport and recreation.
- To encourage the improvement of the way of going of the horse.
- To encourage members to improve and maintain the standard of riding and horsemanship.
- To organise instructional meetings, lectures and competitive events and other activities deemed to further the objectives of the Group.
- To support and co-operate with other recognised organisations within the Group’s catchment area.
- To concern itself with any object or objective which will benefit the horse and rider.
- Membership
- This shall consist of persons who have attained the age of eighteen and having been elected by the Committee, have paid the due subscription for the current period.
- Honorary membership may be conferred by the Committee upon any person deemed by it to have rendered notable service to the Group.
- Any person desirous of becoming a member of the Group must apply on the official membership application form, duly signed by them, to the Membership Secretary for consideration by the Committee.
- The annual subscription shall be payable on the first day of the Group’s financial year.
- Any member whose subscription is more than three months overdue shall be served with written notification and have their name removed from the Membership List.
- Any member joining the Group in the last two months of the membership year will be deemed to have paid their membership for the following year.
- The Committee has the jurisdiction to expel from membership of the Group any member who has wilfully disobeyed any of the rules of the Group, or who has in the opinion of the Committee been guilty of any conduct derogatory to the character or prejudicial to the interests of the Group, provided that before expelling said member the Committee shall call upon them for an explanation of his conduct and shall hear what they wish to urge in their defence.
- Administration
- All powers of management shall be vested in the Committee consisting of the Chairman, Honorary Secretary, Honorary Treasurer and four other members.
- Four shall form a quorum.
- At the Annual General Meeting members of the Committee shall be put forward for re-election.
- The Chairman, Honorary Secretary and Honorary Treasurer shall be elected by the Committee from among their number.
- The decision of the Committee shall be final unless overruled at a General Meeting.
- The Committee shall be the sole authority for the interpretation of the rules or for anything relating to the Group not provided therein and its decision shall be final and binding on the members.
- The Committee may at times formulate byelaws for the detailed running of the Group and elect sub-committees for any special activities of the Group that the Committee may authorise.
- The Committee shall have the power to fill any casual vacancy arising amongst the members of the Committee, but any person co-opted shall retain office only until the next following Annual General Meeting and then shall be eligible for re-election.
- The financial year of the Group shall commence on 1st November in each year.
- The annual subscription shall be £15 (Fifteen Pounds) or any such sum as shall from time to time be determined by the Committee.
- The centre of the Group’s activities shall be Wing Dressage & Jumping Centre, Cubblington Road, Wing, Leighton Buzzard, Beds. or any venue deemed by the Committee to be suitable for the Group’s activities, so long as it falls within the Group’s catchment area.
- The Committee may appoint annually a President and Vice President.
- The Annual General Meeting of the Group shall be held in the month of November to transact the following business:
- To receive and, if approved, adopt a statement of the Group’s accounts to the end of the preceding year.
- To fill vacancies on the Committee.
- To adopt the Group’s Auditor.
- To deal with any special matter which the Committee may desire to bring before the members and to receive suggestions from the members for consideration by the Committee.
- Notice convening the Annual General Meeting shall be sent to the members not less than fourteen days before the meeting and shall specify the matters to be dealt with.
- A Special General Meeting may be called by the Committee, or by request signed by not less than five members, specifying the business to be discussed. All members shall be given ten days’ notice of the date of such a meeting and such notice shall specify matters to be dealt with at such meeting.
- The accounts of the Group shall be audited each year by the person appointed at the previous Annual General Meeting.
- Notice may be given to any member either by post to an address in the UK or by email; members must elect not to receive notice by post.
- The accidental omission to give notice of a meeting to, or the non-receipt of a notice of a meeting by, any member shall not invalidate the proceedings of that meeting.
- These rules may be added to, repealed or amended by resolution at any Annual or Special General Meeting, provided that no such resolution shall be deemed to have been passed unless carried by a majority of at least two-thirds of those members present and voting thereon.
- The Group, its Committee or any persons acting on their behalf, shall not be held responsible for any accident, injury or loss to any person or property howsoever caused.
- Members shall be correctly turned out at all Group events.
- A hard hat is compulsory at all the Group’s ridden events.
The club shall be known as The Wing Dressage Group.
SUMMER DRESSAGE SERIES RULES
- All competitions will be open to members and non-members.
- All competitions will be run under British Dressage rules and it is the responsibility of competitors to make themselves familiar with these rules.
- Each competition will have mixed classes which will be split into two sections:
- Section A – open to riders who are not affiliated to BD, BE or BSJA.
- Section B – open to all affiliated riders.
- Only Wing Dressage Group members will be eligible for the Summer Championship.
- Horse and rider combinations will need to compete at a minimum of three shows to be eligible for the Summer Championship.
- Those taking part in more than three of the competitions that make up the series will only have their three highest qualifying scores counted.
- The organisers reserve the right to combine or split classes depending on the level of entries.
- Rosettes will be awarded to 7th place in each class and in each section at each competition and points will be awarded according to the British Dressage scale of marks depending on % gained.
- Placings in PYO and combined classes will be awarded on % score.
- In PYO Classes and when classes are combined competitors may ride more than one test. Their highest % score will count towards the championship and their placings in the class.
- The top 30 horse and rider combinations on the points table will be invited to compete at the Championship show.
- The Championship Show will be judged as one mixed class by two judges in one arena.
- There will also be two sections at the Championship Show.
- By special permission of BD, Championship prizes will be awarded to the winning horse and rider combinations at the Championship show.
- Horse and rider combinations that have been WDG Champion are not eligible to contest a future championship at the same level.
- Whips may be carried and tests commanded, except at the Championship Show.
- HORSES must be over 4 years of age.
- All dogs MUST be kept on a lead at all times while on the show ground.
- CHILDREN under the age of 18 must be supervised by a responsible adult at all times.
- Withdrawals made after the closing date of the show must be supported by a vet’s or doctor’s certificate otherwise no refund will be given.
